Advanced Therapeutic Approaches to Facial Erythema: Integrating Microneedle RF and PLLA

Treatment for facial erythema and flushing can greatly influence patient satisfaction, yet conventional methods alone often fail to deliver sufficient improvement. This is where the combination therapy of POTENZA Needle RF and the PLLA formulation McCoom7 comes into focus. As a minimally invasive, highly safe option that promotes collagen production while broadly improving redness, enlarged pores, and fine lines, it is attracting significant attention from clinic operators as a new treatment choice.

How to Meet the Growing Demand for “Facial Erythema/Flushing” Treatments (00:16-)

At dermatology clinics, it is quite common for patients to seek treatment primarily for facial erythema or flushing. Flushing is not merely a temporary reaction; it can also manifest as a symptom of various skin conditions such as rosacea or contact dermatitis. Recently, the number of patients has increased, with reports indicating a particular prevalence among women, especially those in their 50s. Causes are diverse, ranging from emotional fluctuations, temperature changes, alcohol consumption, and spicy foods, to medications, and even hormonal imbalances or immune system abnormalities. Its pathophysiology is complex, and since no single treatment is sufficient, a combination of multiple approaches is necessary.

Limitations of Conventional Treatments and the Need for New Options (04:39-)

When proceeding with treatment, it is crucial to determine whether the condition is vascular or inflammatory, and whether it is transient or persistent. For mild cases, initial management involves avoiding triggers, using low-irritant skincare products, and protecting against ultraviolet radiation. Topical therapies such as brimonidine gel, ivermectin cream, and metronidazole preparations are useful. For refractory cases, systemic therapies such as the antibiotic doxycycline, isotretinoin, beta-blockers, or SSRIs are considered. Furthermore, for cases with poor response, energy-based devices (EBD) like pulsed dye laser, IPL, or Nd:YAG laser become appropriate. However, if these treatments prove ineffective, biostimulators represent the next treatment option.

Features of McCoom7 and PLLA (7:00–)

PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) is a safe ingredient used in medical applications for many years, acting as a biostimulator that promotes collagen regeneration. Unlike conventional Sculptra, SACCIBio’s McCoom7 employs spherical microparticles. These particles maintain a consistent size and shape while degrading within the body, enabling uniform collagen production. Research reports indicate that McCoom7 increases TGF-β via the interleukin-4/13 pathway to promote collagen synthesis, while simultaneously suppressing collagen degradation through interleukin-10. This immune-modulating function is considered beneficial for a wide range of indications, including redness, rosacea, enlarged pores, scars, and fine lines.

Synergistic Effects of McCoom7 and RF Needling (09:50–)

To maximize the effects of PLLA, efficient delivery into the skin is key. Here, the radiofrequency microneedling device POTENZA plays a crucial role. Needle RF enhances drug permeability through micro-punctures while stimulating collagen production with thermal energy, also acting to suppress inflammation and angiogenesis. Actual case reports indicate that using McCoom7 in combination with a pumping tip significantly improved redness and post-acne erythema. For patients with sensitive skin who are hesitant about injection treatments, drug delivery via Needle RF offers a minimally invasive option with high patient satisfaction.

A Key Strategy to Enhance Patient Satisfaction and Clinic Differentiation (19:30 -)

Facial flushing and rosacea cannot be resolved with simple treatments; they require ongoing management and a multifaceted approach. The combination of Needle RF and PLLA, particularly McCoom7 with its spherical particles, offers a treatment strategy that balances safety and efficacy. It offers a clinically beneficial new option for patients dissatisfied with conventional treatments.
