In this article, Jeisys’s Monopolar RF device “DENSITY” is introduced. Recently, radiofrequency (RF) treatment for skin laxity has been attracting attention, and DENSITY in particular has been reported to be very effective when used in combination with other treatment methods.

The Mechanism and Lax-Skin Treatment
As we age, the skin and soft tissues lose elasticity and sagging becomes more noticeable. The mainstream treatments for skin laxity have been HIFU and hyaluronic acid injection therapy, but recently treatments using RF have become popular.
The difference between HIFU and DENSITY
HIFU targets the fascia (SMAS) and produces a lifting effect by linearly heating the fascia. While HIFU selects treatment areas according to depth and locally tightens fascia, DENSITY lifts by tightening the fibrous septa that surround adipocytes.
Importance of treatment design for individual cases
Particularly when using HIFU, it is important to be aware that it may enhance hollows in areas with little fat. Advance treatment design is essential, for example, injecting hyaluronic acid under the eyes and temples to increase volume, or using HIFU to tighten areas such as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines, where sagging is noticeable.
Since designing is important with HIFU, careful consideration should be given where to shoot and where not to shoot.
DENSITY, on the other hand, uses the characteristics of monopolar RF to tighten the skin around the mouth and nasolabial folds, improving the overall contour of the face. DENSITY not only acts on the SMAS, but also has a high rejuvenating effect on the skin surface, improving elasticity and texture.
If there are almost no blemishes, volume control and skin rejuvenation can be achieved simply by using mono/bi polar. So it is highly compatible with skin treatment and easy to recommend to patients.
Case Results and Discussion
The patient in her 50s, treatment using DENSITY monopolar RF for about 300 shots made the nasolabial folds less noticeable and greatly improved the skin laxity around the mouth. The lines around the mouth and under the chin tightened, and the overall facial contours became more refined.
In another case, a patient who had a hollow-out appearance after HIFU had her cheeks plumped up with DENSITY treatment. As a result of the level 3 to 3.5 strong output, the skin laxity under the chin and the loose platysma muscle also improved. However, we recommend using local anesthesia to reduce pain or using the moving technique to diffuse the heat while the procedure.
Future Issues and Prospects
DENSITY RF treatment has a tightening effect through a different mechanism to HIFU, with added benefit of skin rejuvenation. In particular, for patients who are reluctant to have hyaluronic acid injections or HIFU, the use of DENSITY’s reduced-pain irradiation method (such as the moving technique) will make it easier to experience the effects.
However, controlling pain is an important issue, requiring the use of local anesthesia in many cases. As research progresses and more papers are published, it is hoped that DENSITY and other RF treatments will be established as the standard for lax-skin treatment.
Finally, DENSITY is useful for both skin texture improvement and lax-skin treatment and is very accessible to both patients and practitioners. We hope you will take full advantage of it.
