The Applications and Procedures using the Surgical Mode on the Edge ONE CO2 laser

Thank you for visiting the website of Jeisys Medical Japan. Moles or SKs ( seborrheic keratosis) (benign neoplastic lesion) in conspicuous places can sometimes make your face unattractive and depressing.
For the treatment of such patients, many clinics have adopted the carbon dioxide gas laser (CO2) Edge ONE.
In this issue, Dr. Aya Yakabe, Director of the Miyabi Clinic, will introduce examples of EdgeONE use.

Information on CO2 laser Edge One (2:52~)

Edge ONE has Surgical Mode and Fractional Mode. In our clinic, we mainly use Surgical Mode to incise and transpire lesion tissue.

What can be done with a CO2 laser (03:25~)

CO2 laser can be used for different indications. Our clinic treats various types of cases, as the insured patients often switch to self-funded treatment for the removal of spots or birthmarks. For all these cases, we perform carbon dioxide laser treatment.

Setting of Edge ONE (04:03~)

We often use Ultra Mode for treatment.
The first advantage of using Ultra Mode is the ability to set pulse widths in microseconds.
Pulse width can be increased to strengthen the thermal damage area (coagulation layer), or decreased to reduce the coagulation layer to cut and avoid hyperpigmentation.
Second, the repeat frequency can be set. Pulses per second, or the repeat frequency, is set low until the patient become familiar with the process, then gradually increased to speed up the treatment.
※More cases are presented in the video. Please watch them as well.

Area suitable for CO2 laser treatment (14:25~)

The following areas are suitable for carbon dioxide (CO2) laser treatment.

・Around the eyes, nose, mouth, and head (areas where surgery can cause visible linear scars, invasion of hair follicles and hair loss)
・Skin areas with heavy hemorrhage
・Tumors prone to multiplicity (SK, skin tags and Syringoma, etc. around the face and neck)
・Comedo extraction The CO2 laser allows low-cost, easy treatment with minimal risk of bleeding for cases that are difficult to treat with liquid nitrogen or surgery due to scarring.

Notes on CO2 laser treatment (15:56~)

It is noted that CO2 laser treatment can cause non-epithelialization of the transpired area, recurrence of the treated area, hypertrophic/depressed scarring, and hyperpigmentation.
Also note that excessive shaving in the T-zone will result in recessed scar. Surgery is indicated for the area below the décolleté, to avoid risks of hypertrophic scarring and residual PIH.
We have earned the trust of our patients through our diligent approach to aftercare and complications as well as follow-up.

Summary: Advantages of CO2 laser treatment of Edge ONE (18:00~)

Edge One’s Surgical Ultra mode allows the pulse width and repeat frequency to be changed, resulting in a highly detailed treatment with less pigmentation.
It is now an alternative to surgery in plastic surgery or dermatology. Sincere follow-up services will build trust with patients and attract customers by word of mouth.
Edge ONE is a less expensive, consumable-free, and easy-to-install laser device, making it a good option if you are considering purchasing a CO2 laser.
